Dalsida and Lordalen state commons in Lesja hold about 230 fishing lakes and about 180 km of rivers and streams with fish, and all of them hold brown trout. The Aursjø reservoir, Vangsvatnet and Vangstjønn also hold grayling, and Flisarvatnet, Trælen and Sjongsvatnet hold Arctic char. For families with children, several lakes lie along the road into Dalsida, among them Flisarvatnet and Sjongsvatnet (838 m above sea level). The roads in are toll roads, and large parts of the area have little or no mobile coverage.

### Light spinning in the mountain lakes

Small spoons and spinners from shore. Vangsfjellet, Tverråbotten and the Jore river are good rod-fishing areas.

- Fly

### Grayling on the fly

Class 4-6, nymph and dry fly. Grayling fishing is good in Aursjøen and its side streams, Vangstjønn and Vangsvatnet.

- Bait

### Ice fishing with jig and bait

Ice fishing is allowed on most lakes, but not in the Aursjø basin. Earthworm and maggot are allowed as bait.

## Licence and rules

Advisory

- Rod and handline are allowed all year, but in streams and rivers fishing is banned from 15 September until the ice goes in spring.
- Otter board and set lines are allowed 1 Jun to 15 Sep.
- Net fishing in the Aursjø basin is allowed 1 Jun to 10 Sep, and in the other net lakes from 10 Jun, from ice-out or from 20 Jul, until 15 Sep.
- The listing states no catch limit.
- Non-residents may fish with rod and otter board in all lakes and with nets in some lakes, while foreign visitors may fish with a rod only.
- In rivers and streams only rod fishing is allowed.
- Live bait is banned, except earthworm and maggot.
- Ice fishing is allowed on all lakes except the Aursjø basin, Fillingtjønn, Strålsjøen, Heimtjønnene, Veslguttjønn and Fauttjønn.
- Children and young people under 20 fish for free with rod and otter board.
- Tackle used in other watercourses than Lågen, Otta, Rauma, Aura and Driva, or abroad, must be disinfected.
- Lesja municipality has its own rules for motor traffic on watercourses.
