At 1161 km² this is one of the largest village commons in the country, with around 120 fishing lakes. Brown trout dominates and Arctic char is found in roughly 30 lakes; Unndalsvatnet also holds grayling. Most trout lakes hold fish up to 1-1.5 kg. Clear, cold mountain water, so natural and silver-coloured lures.

Advisory

- All fishing in rivers and lakes with a pure brown trout stock is banned 15 September to 31 October.
- In lakes with Arctic char, fishing is allowed all year.
- Verify locally.
- Fixed gear in pure trout lakes is allowed 15 July to 14 September.
- For Gjevilvatnet it is 1 July to 14 September, and all fishing there is banned 15 September to 31 October.
- In Vesle Orkelsjø, Orkelsjøen and Unndalsvatnet fixed gear is allowed 15 July to 31 August.
- Live fish as bait is banned.
