Sødorp sameige offers fishing in the mountains along the Peer Gynt seterveg, which starts at Sødorp in Vinstra and runs for about 45 km. The fishing is easy to reach from the road, in high-mountain terrain with patches of mixed forest. Stocks of brown trout and Arctic char vary, and good pan-sized fish are found everywhere. Storvatnet, one of the ice-fishing lakes, lies 860 m above sea level.

## Licence and rules

Advisory

- Fishing with 1 rod is allowed in all rivers and lakes 1 Jun to 5 Sep.
- Otter-board fishing is allowed 15 Jun to 5 Sep for local residents, and for non-residents from 15 Jun until net fishing starts on 1 Aug, on all lakes except Storvatnet and Koltjønna.
- Ice fishing is open to all on Austjern, Fjelltjern, Storvatnet and Koltjern 15 Nov to 1 May.
- The licence for grayling fishing in Avstjern with a fly rod and small hooks is valid 5 Sep to 1 Oct.
- Everyone who fishes in the sameige must buy a licence, except children under 16 fishing with a rod from the shore.
- Only set nets, rod, handline and otter board are legal gear, and blocking outlets, streams and rivers with gear is banned.
- Net fishing is only for local residents in Avstjern and Bosen, and for landowners in Storvatnet and Koltjern, 1 Aug to 5 Sep.
- Local residents means everyone on the east side of Lågen between Kvam and the Sør-Fron border.
- Breaches are reported to the police and can lead to a 2-year ban from all fishing in the sameige.
