Skarvheimen (Aurlandskortet)

The Aurland licence covers over 200 lakes across seven zones, from Rallarvegen and the Flåm watercourse in the south to the Aurland watercourse and the Hallingdal border. Most lakes hold a thin stock of large fish, and Arctic char is found in zone 6, the Flåm watercourse. In zone 1 the average weight of net-caught fish was 0.41 kg in 2021. In Stemmerdalen along Fv. 50 there is a fishing path adapted for wheelchair users.

  • Spinning

    Light spinning in the high fells

    The lakes that give up the most fish lie above 1400 m. Walk a little off the beaten track, where the fish are less lure-shy.

  • Bait

    Ice fishing in spring and early summer

    A long ice-fishing season; in the high fells the ice often lasts until mid-July.

The fish here

  • Brown trout

    Active at first light and dusk. Lures and flies. Fish along edges, inlets and rocks.

  • Arctic char

    Often in deeper water in mountain lakes. Small spoons in red or natural colours. Best morning and evening.
